Thu 18 Jul 2019 Mr Rose

So we've reached the end of yet another amazing year! Today we are saying goodbye to our Yr6 children as they continue their education journey as well as a number of staff:

Mr Martin, who has been with us for two years and supported the children in their learning.  He has been instrumental in much of the sporting activities during his time with us.

Mrs Day, who has been our Yr3 teacher working alongside Mrs Cridland. Even though she has only been with us for a year she has become a valuable member of staff.

Mr Hinton, who has been our support teacher for many years teaching in a variety of classes across the school. He has also been our Yr5/6 Performance Director, giving the children an experience they will always remember by putting on world class productions. After 40 years of teaching we wish him all the best in his retirement and a we hope he enjoys putting his feet up.

Finally Mrs Cridland who has taught at Colney Heath for 19 years. Throughout this time over 500 children have past through her care. She has been a fantastic teacher and colleague who is now going to have a well deserved retirement.

    Attendance

Today we celebrated those children who have 100% attendance. This means they have been in school from the first day in September to today. We had a record number of 16 children who have managed to achieve this.

Please check out the Things To Do Over The Summer Holiday news item as it has some great links to many free activities. We have also updated the calendar for next term which includes class assemblies. On the class page you will also find a transition document which will introduce the children to their new class teacher and classroom.

Remember term starts 8.55 on Tuesday 3rd September.

    Have a great summer.

    Fri 12 Jul 2019 Lily-Mai and Taylor

Hello everyone, this is Lily-Mai and Taylor from Year 6.  In this week's blog, we will be reporting on the Schools 2019 summer performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream.  This play is an Old-English classic, written by William Shakespeare, set in Athens, Greece.  In the 16th Century, when this romance was written, any mischievous doings were always blamed on the fairies or the elves.  This play is based around 4 lovers who fall under a curse from a flower, named "Love-In-Idleness".  This causes friendship problems between the childhood buddies, resulting in arguments.

Every child in Years 5&6 participated .  We even controlled the lights and sound and choreographed the dances ourselves.  As a result, we have learned from our mistakes and improved our acting skills throughout our rehearsals and performances.  Our play was directed and produced by Mr Hinton, who will be retiring this year and will be greatly missed.  He helped us to grow in confidence and we all now realise that it's not about having the most lines or a "big part", it's about taking part and trying our hardest no matter what part we get.  The whole of the cast have grown throughout our show and had so much fun performing to our audiences.  Thank you and we hope you enjoyed our last performance.

On Friday the whole school will have a picnic on the school field.  Children will place their picnic orders for this on Thursday, so please make sure you tell them whether they will be having a school packed lunch or if you will prepare one at home.
