District sports 2024!
The week started off strong on Tuesday with our Field events.
The girls went out fighting to start us off strong, Millie and Layla jumped incredibly well in long jump, Millie jumping a PB of 3 metres 76cm and Layla laughing herself over the 2 metre mark for her first time jumping in to a proper pit! Boys up next in long jump and Buddy and Justin both improved with every jump, unfortunately just getting pipped to the post for a placing but again a wonderful show of skills from both boys.
Then over to high jump where Aidan and Buddy started us off strong, competing against some very strong jumpers, Aidan clearing a Metre and Buddy going higher to secure a second place.
Over to the throwing where Libby and Sophia did us so proud. Lloyd and Denholm also demonstrated some strong throws with Lloyd placing 5th overall!
We also had the first round of relay where boys showed wonderful sportsmanship and sailed through, unfortunately just missing out on placing. Girls demonstrated true determination with a slow start by Phoebe who miss heard the whistle, she started behind the pack and caught up with ease, Sophia and Jasmine launched through the middle of the track towards Millie who flew ahead to easily secure us first place! A true demonstration of Girl Power!
Thursday began with the shuttle races where year 3 and 4 ran a 4 x 70 metre relay. Chloe, Holly, Ophelia and Ailbhe ran a strong race, qualifying for the finals later in the day and Jordan, Zayn, Harry and Frankie ran a strong race too but just missed out on place no by seconds - don’t worry lads we will get them next year!
We then moved on 600m for our Two Year 6 long distance runners, the sun was shining and it was tough going out there but Jasmine and Zakariya showed great determination and powered through. Jasmine secured an admirable 3rd place!
After this we watched our sprints. Everyone ran their best against some very strong athletes and I am so proud of their effort.

It has been a pleasure to take your children out and have them represent our school. They behaved wonderfully and demonstrated admirably what being a “sportsperson” is all about. Their communication, words of encouragement, knowledge of their skills and sports and the overall manners of the group were impeccable. We feel so proud and lucky to have them out with us!
Thankyou for the ongoing support with sport and cheering on from the sidelines this week!
Miss Banerjee and Mrs Franklin! :)
