Home learning

There are three main areas in which we would like you to help your child at home.

1. Reading: Ideally the children should be reading every day, even if only for a few minutes. We ask that you listen to your child or read with them for a minimum of four days a week, and record this in their reading records. Any suitable book is fine, it doesn't have to be a school book. The reading records are checked each morning and those children who have read at least four times are entered into our Star Reader prize draw, where they might win a small prize.

2. Spellings: The children bring home a list of spellings each Monday. Please encourage them to practise these words during the week, preferably for a few minutes at a time over several different days, rather than all at once on a Sunday evening!

3. Maths: The children are all registered on the Time Tables Rock Stars website. Please encourage your child to use this in order to practise their tables, learning the number facts and increasing the speed at which they can recall these. By the end of year 3, the children should know their 2,3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables.

Thank you for all your help and support with the children's learning.
