As we reach the end of the first half term it is wonderful to see that the children have been working hard.  I've enjoyed seeing their progress so far.  Please continue reading over the half term and remember to try and spend some quality time with them, away from electronic gadgets.

    Attendance

Continue to check your child's attendance via the Gateway.  96% and above is expected. There has been a growing number of children arriving late in the morning (one morning 19 children)  this is unacceptable and impacts on everyone's learning and the daily running of the school office. Remember your child needs to be at school by 8.45 so they are ready to enter the classrooms at 8.55.  If you arrive after the registers close the children will be given an unauthorised mark.

    Awards Ceremony

Four of our children (Rachel, Eve, Edan and Lottie) attended a special prize giving event at County Hall. Their entries to the Campaign For Rural England art competition were selected as winners and runner-up which meant that each child was presented with a framed certificate and vouchers. The school also picked up overall school winner.  Well done to everyone who took part last Easter.

Dinners - Please can all parents ensure that if they pay for school dinners that their child's accounts are kept in credit at all times.  Payment for the next half term is due on Monday 30th October and for a meal taken each day till Christmas the amount is £85.10.

Fri 13 Oct 2017 Mr Rose

A number of classes have already been on trips this term, which have been heavily subsidised by the PTA.  Yr3 went to Cuffley and Yrs5/6 are currently at the Chiltern Open Air Museum. School trips are a great way to bring the curriculum to life for the children. There are more trips to come this term.

    Thank You

Just over £200 was raised by staff and parents at the McMillan Coffee afternoon. There were lots of cake donations which helped make the event such a success.

This week’s blog has been taken over by a host of little yellow creatures ………

“Once upon a time a Minion went exploring and he met a tiger….”

“They got there just in time before the baddies got the rest of the minions.”

“He flew through the woods and got to his house and got to bed……. The next day he had breakfast in bed, he had pizza and lemon juice.”

This is story telling in Reception.

These are some examples of the amazing imaginations that children as young as 4 have. Reception children have been taking their Minion friends on adventures and making up stories about them.

“We cannot create a world we cannot imagine and stories are the engines of imagination.”

Tonight when you tuck your child into bed, don’t read them a story, tell them a story.
