Thu 29 Mar 2018 Mr Rose

We have had a great end to the Spring Term with the Yr3/4 performance of Cinderella. The children were real stars entertaining a packed hall and everyone was fantastic!

Our football squad took part in the St Alban's Penalty competition finals last Saturday. We finished runners up and are very proud of the boys, as it is the first time the school has ever got that far in the competition.

Please all have a restful and happy holiday and we look forward to seeing the children on the 16th April for another busy and exciting Summer Term.

    Over The Easter Holiday

North Mymms Cricket Club are holding a Cricket Camp at the school on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th April from 9.30-4pm.  Open to boys and girls of all abilities between the ages of 7-12years. To register your child contact Paul Williams at pwcricket@virginmedia.com or phone 07981 838115.

Our holiday competition is to create a piece of art for St Alban's Sustainability Week titled Wild About Our Common.

Remember we are back on Monday 16th April, please ensure dinner accounts are in credit and remember that we return on the new menu choices.

Don't forget school will be closed to children on Friday 22nd June

Don't forget to put the 24th April at 9am in your diaries. Many of you mentioned in our survey that you would like to understand what the children have been doing around emotional health. This session will help you understand MindUp and give you ideas of activities to try at home. Refreshments will be provided by the PTA.

Following on from this we also be offering a Mindfulness after school club (RootUp) next term for the juniors. Details will be coming your way next week.

    Kitchen News

Next Thursday, as it is the last day of term, the kitchen are going to be offering the Friday menu choice so that the children won't miss out on their beloved pizza!

A reminder that the menu changes on our return for the Summer Term, and that the cost has risen to £2.40 per day, which is still a great price for a delicious and nutritious two course meal.

Finally, as end of term and financial year end is next week, can we remind you not to have ANY debts on your children's dinner accounts.  Check balances and top up using School Gateway.

    School Journey

It's getting closer!  The final numbers and confirmation will be sent next week to the Isle of Wight on receipt of the final payments (Monday is the deadline). Kit lists should be ready before you break for Easter so you'll have plenty of time to prepare.

Fri 16 Mar 2018 Mr Rose

The children have enjoyed this week with all the different activities they have experienced around books. I know the staff have especially enjoyed the class swap as they have been able to read a story to all the children. The children will be bringing a book home today from our Book Swap campaign, thank you for all the donations.

Remember today after school is the last chance to come to the book fair. The more books sold the greater number of books we will get for our library. From our letter to you around supporting reading at home we had the draw for each class, congratulations to: Dawud, Elliot, Aaron, Oscar, Catharine, Matthew F and Ronnie have all been able to choose a book from the fair to take home.

Don't forget to remind your child/ren to bring in the record sheet for the amount of minutes reading has happened this week on Monday.

Fri 09 Mar 2018 Mr Rose

As with many schools in Hertfordshire we have been affected by a sickness virus and high temperatures in our children which started last weekend. Thanks to all of you who adhered to our 48hr rule so we were able to ensure it didn't spread further, this resulted in us sending less than a handful of children home during the course of the week.

As with any cases like this we took advice and put in to place procedures to ensure any risks were minimised, we are pleased to see children returning fit and healthy.

Hopefully next week we can get back to 100% attendance.
