Fri 27 Sep 2019 Mr Rose

We had our first cross country event this week. Around 100 children from all over St Albans ran three laps of our field. Well done to our cross country team who all performed well.

    PTA

At our AGM on Thursday next week we will need to nominate new officers. It is essential that as many of you attend as possible to ensure our PTA can continue to benefit your children in the coming year.

Remember if your child is in Reception, Yr1 or Yr2 they are entitled to Free Universal School Dinners. This will save you £187.50 a term and up to £400 a year. Whilst the government are still offering all parents this benefit, we'd encourage you take this up. Please contact the school office if you have any further questions regarding Universal Meals and what we provide here at Colney Heath.

Special Menu: Occasionally Mrs O'Neill will put on a special menu for our children and we are delighted to say that the ever popular 'Burger Day' is back on the menu next Thursday.  A choice of Beef, Chicken or Quorn burgers will be served with potato wedges and corn on the cob.  Please ensure your child has funds on their account (Yr3 and above) to cover the cost of this meal.

Our school council have now been selected and have taken up their positions. They will be choosing our charity for this year and are already planning events.

    PTA

Unfortunately we had no nominations for PTA officers. This will mean that at the AGM if no one comes forward the PTA will cease to exist. Please attend the AGM and show your support on Thursday 3rd October. Remember without the PTA the cost of trips will go up, many resources can't be purchased (Chrome Books and Library Books last year) and of course events for you and the children won't happen.

Comedy Night tickets are available. It promises to be a great evening. Get your tickets quickly as they are going fast.

    Next Week

    Monday no Yr5/6 football club

Thursday Cross Country at Colney Heath.

    Office News

Photographs have now gone out and need to be returned to school by Tuesday 1st October or you can place your order online.

Second week in and already so much learning. Finding out about Queen Elizabeth 1 in Yr2, Romans in Yr4 and Evacuees in Yr6. Reception and Nursery have concentrated on working together. Yr1 have been writing sentences with the correct punctuation, Yr5 on using adverbial phrases and Yr3 on developing mental maths strategies.

Please check your child's class website page as lots of useful information has now been added. From Yr1 to Yr6 you will find recommended reading books and grammar information.
