Fri 28 Sep 2018 Mr Rose

Yr3 held their McMillan Cake sale today selling cakes to all the junior children. It was lovely to see the amount of cake donations we had and the children taking the lead in organising this event with Mrs Day.

    PTA AGM

Next Tuesday at 7.30 pm is the PTA AGM. To support our new committee we need people to come along for just an hour of their time. The AGM is a great time to show your support and understand if and how you can help in the coming year. We look forward to seeing you there.

Fri 21 Sep 2018 Mr Rose

It has been great to see our children participating in a variety of physical activities this week. Year 4 to Year 6 have been enjoying their rugby sessions, Year 1 and Year 3 started cricket sessions and our cross country squad ran their first race whilst Year 4 are trialling the daily mile.

    PTA News

I am really pleased to announce that we have four PTA officers for the coming year:

    Chair: Mrs Oliver

    Vice-Chair: Mrs Donovan

    Treasurer: Mrs May

    Secretary: Mrs Parker

We now need teams of parents to step forward to organise the various events over the year. Please let us know which events you can help with: Discos, Spring Fair, Pamper Evening and Summer Fair.

The Winter Fair needs a committee now. This event is straightforward to organise as it's mainly about booking craft stalls. Let us know via the school office if you can help.

    Local News

Our new community police officer visited the school this week. He talked about the need for drivers to take extra care around school sites and the importance of our children using the crossing and being properly supervised especially in the side car park.

    Cake Sale for Cancer

Yr3 have organised a cake sale for McMillan Cancer. They will be selling cakes to Year 3 to Year 6 on Friday morning. Any cake donations will be greatly received on Thursday.

    School Uniform

Fri 14 Sep 2018 Mr Rose

Our Star Readers scheme has started again. Children need to have read at least 4 times a week, and it is essential that they are heard reading, read to and have opportunities to enjoy books.  Look out for the class percentages over the coming week.

    PTA Officer Nominations

As of yet we have had no nominations. It would be a shame if all future events have to be cancelled. As a school we rely on the money raised by the PTA, which helps to subsidise each trip up to £6 per child and provides much needed equipment, such as computers.

    School Photos

Individual photos will be taken on Monday morning. Please ensure children are dressed in our school uniform.  Siblings who do not attend Colney Heath (babes in arms) are welcome to come in from 8am to have photos taken.  Siblings who are all at school will have their family group photos taken during school time.

    Office News

Head Lice - whilst we have only had one case reported in the office we just wanted to remind you that this time of year (when the central heating goes on) is the time that Head Lice are more prevalent. Please be aware and check and treat your child/ren as needed.

School Dinners - we still have a number of families who do not keep their child's accounts in credit. This creates a great deal of correspondence for the office to deal with and is a financial drain on the school.  Please only order meals if funds are available.

Fri 07 Sep 2018 Mr Rose

Welcome back to everyone. We hope you had a good summer. Already this week Yr5/6 have had a wonderful Saxon Day, our new Reception children have met their buddies and all the children have settled into their new classes and begun their learning.

    Attendance

It has been great to see the vast majority of our children arriving on time and ready for school. This has ensured there are no initial gaps in their education and reduced the disruptive impact it has on the rest of the class. Well done.

School dates for the whole year are on the website (remember you can synchronise calendars) so there is no excuse for booking holidays during term time.

    Next Week

All clubs start. Places are limited so please get the forms in quickly.

    PTA Elections

We urgently need nominations for PTA officers for the coming year. Forms have come home.

The impact of potentially not having a PTA is already affecting the school.

    • Staff are having to consider trips carefully. In the past they could organise a trip in the knowledge that the cost would be manageable for parents.
    • Stall holders who we would be giving dates for our fairs have been put on hold.
    • The forthcoming disco will be cancelled which is one of our popular events.
