Fri 26 Jun 2020 Mr Rose

What a scorching week we have had, hopefully you have all found a way to enjoy it safely.

    Request Reminders

Many class teachers are asking for something from the children for Mrs Hinton.

The school has asked for any memories about Mrs Hinton from anyone to put in a special box.

We need a photograph of every child with their lock down reading book. Many are all ready on our website if you want some recommendations.

    Library Opening

This will continue to the end of term between 9.30 and 10.30.

    Monday Yr2

    Tuesday Yr5

    Wednesday Yr3

    Thursday Yr4

For all other year groups we are asking for all books to be returned in the coming weeks. This can be done by dropping them off at the front door in the box provided.

    Transition

Before the end of the term we will undertake remote activities / communication with all classes as a way to end the term for the children and make contact with new classes.

Thanks to those of you who have already sent in a photograph of your child reading. These have already been put onto the website. We are trying to get the whole school by the end of June. Please continue to send pictures in to admin@colneyheath.herts.sch.uk

This week it was lovely to see a number of children from Yr3, Yr4 and Yr5 visit the library this week. This opportunity will continue every week for these year groups up to the end of term. Yr2 remember you can come in on Monday.

During this difficult time and the weeks ahead please remember to use the MindUp resources:

For example activities on GRATITUDE AND KINDNESS HELP CHANGE THE WORLD

Fri 12 Jun 2020 Mr Rose

We have now opened all our 'Bubble' groups across each classroom for Reception, Year 1, Year 6 and Key Workers. This means that unfortunately there is no capacity for the other year groups. Over the coming weeks we will endeavour to further develop strategies to support those children and families at this unprecedented time.

Meanwhile I have a request for you all. We would like to have a photograph of every child holding either the book they are reading or one you are reading to them. We will use these to create a montage on the website and in picture frames for the library.

Please send these photographs need to be sent to admin@colneyheath.herts.sch.uk.

The challenge is to get a photograph of every child or family group by the end of June.

This week we were able to start reopening to certain years as well as our Key Worker group. It was lovely to see and hear laughter, singing and learning taking place.

Thank you again for your support at this very unusual time.

    Sad Announcement

We are sad to inform you that Mrs Hinton will be leaving us for a well deserved retirement at the end of this term. She has given 30 years of her career to the children of Colney Heath. Thousands of children and families have had the honour of experiencing her dedication, teaching and passion. I know many of you remember her as your own teacher. She has promised to still come and support us in September, I think it will be hard to keep her away.

We will inform you in the coming months how the school will recognise this amazing dedication to us all.
